Ms. Michaels is an activist. Her community and humanitarian involvement include supporting BookPALS (Performing Artists for Literacy in Schools), one of the fastest growing literacy programs in the country, is an all-volunteer program operating under the auspices of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation, the charitable, educational and humanitarian arm of the Screen Actors Guild. “I believe art can change lives. If these kids fall in love with reading then they can begin to start imagining and learning to develop their talents. Kids who are involved in the arts are less likely to engage in risky behavior primarily because they have avenues to express themselves,” stated Melissa Michaels. She serves on the board of San Diego Center for Children. Additionally, she is an advocate for Make-A-Wish Foundation. Partial proceeds will go to these organizations.She received honorable mention on The Wall of Tolerance in Montgomery, Alabama, which is the home of the Civil Rights Movement. Expanded Biography Ivan P. Dobranic
Ivan Dobranic was born in Nice, France in 1960. He moved to Chicago with his parents. At the age of 6, he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, and has spent most of his life in a wheelchair. He continued to develop his artistic talents and majored in art with three years at St. Xavier College. His first two one man exhibitions were at St. Xavier College and the Beverly Art center in 1987. His work was then shown on the muscular dystrophy telethon in 1988, 1989 and 1990.
In 1990 the family moved to Sarasota, Florida to better accommodate the progressive nature of his disease. He now requires a ventilator to breathe, and has only limited movement in two fingers of his left hand. Despite all this he continues to overcome every setback with his unfailing optimism and the caring support of his family.
His determination and creative spirit shine through his painstakingly crafted oil paintings and drawings. Dobranic as filled his life with paintings; he favors realistic landscape genre, and succeeds in imbuing them with a peaceful serenity. Each painting is characterized by rich color harmonies, sometimes somber and brooding, sometimes bright and cheerful. His work speaks of a focus of energy, a spirit that will not accept limits.

The list of George A. Furness, Jr.’s accomplishments includes former US Foreign Service Officer, Deputy Director, Office of Ecology and Conservation and International Wildlife and Conservation Officer. He was also in charge of the US International Visitor Program and Office of International Conferences. Mr. Furness served in Vietnam, France, Ireland and Japan. He also served as Secretary of the Board of the Audubon Naturalist Society.
CTSF is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping international wild living resources conservation agreements. Over 150 nations, representing most of the peoples of the world, have adhered to these treaties, pledging their best efforts to ensure the maintenance of our natural heritage, for its own sake and for the benefit of people.
The unique mission of the Conservation Treaty Support Fund (CTSF) is to support major inter-governmental treaties which conserve wild natural resources for their own sake and the benefit of people.
